Creepy gun fanatic, doesn’t pay child support. i don’t care about your “rights.” i am tired of people dying.
i am fervently anti-gun. i recognize that we don’t live in a perfect world and that the US is too far gone to ever get rid of them. 4 years after i graduated high school, there was a mass shooting there that killed multiple children. shortly after, there was a mass shooting at the university that i graduated from that also killed people.

as a kid, i was relatively right-centrist (and i think probably pro gun, can’t remember) my town was conservative, pro gun, etc. as a leftist now, and have been for years, i can’t wrap my head around how people, mainly conservatives, think that more guns are the solution. they claim to “do their own research” but fail to do their research on the modern day NRA and its background.

i’ve had people argue with me that if my high school allowed guns, the shooter would have been stopped. they did have guns. in fact, it had multiple highly trained and armed operators, and not one of them was able to stop the shooter. guns present, people still dead.

at my university, police were armed, a student even said that he had a gun in his dorm and he didn’t use it. guns present, people still dead.

uvalde happened, police were armed, not one of them stopped the gunman. guns present, people still dead.

allen, texas. open carry, pro-gun community. guns present, people dead.

as i mentioned, i know that we’re too far gone to take guns away completely. knowing that, i’m very pro background checks and operating license. they say, “cars can kill people too!”… then let’s treat guns more like cars. just like a drivers license, you should have to test and renew every year. i don’t get why people who claim to be responsible gun owners would have any issue going through screenings to make sure kids and people are safe.

we can’t stop illegal guns from being exchanged, but if we can stop even one gun from being in the wrong hands, is it not worth it? if they are so pro life, so “every child matters”, does one life not matter enough to take extra measures?

if the argument is to protect themselves from the government, do they not realize that we overtake entire nations as the US? drones, tanks? they think a few rifles will protect them?

i know the answer already, they don’t really care. they’re more concerned about their “freedom” than lives (ironic considering pro-choice rhetoric of course, but i digress). why does it have to take lives to radicalize people?

it’s just really frustrating to sit in hopelessness and sadness while people keep dying. it is so frustrating when mass shootings are a “you don’t truly understand until it happens to you.” i wonder when they will step away from the NRA illusion and brainwashing and start caring about peoples’ lives. i hate that the NRA makes money off of gun control scares. i am tired of people valuing their (very fuzzy) “constitutional rights” over lives. i am tired of people being soulless. am tired of people dying.
